Green Energy in America

Over the past ten years, the world has pushed to make vast improvements in developing clean, safe, renewable energy. Everything from solar power to wind energy is becoming more popular than ever, which means it's also becoming easier to obtain. The first step in becoming more energy efficient is to become more aware of the different types of green energy in America:

Solar Energy: Solar energy is the most popular green energy in America, simply because you can use it anywhere. Sunlight shines on every state, so all that's required to harness this power is a solar array. In West Virginia, solar energy is not only affordable, but also can be applied toward tax credits, making it an easy switch for many homeowners. Converting solar energy into useable power is a great way to become eco friendly.

Wind Power: West Virginia is slowly emerging as a leader when it comes to green energy in America.

Geothermal Energy:  It's hard to imagine that the Earth itself can generate energy through pressure and heat, but it is indeed possible. Geothermal energy isn't beneficial everywhere, but that doesn't mean it isn't a source of energy for some regions of the U.S.

Hydroelectric Energy: Hydroelectric energy is similar to geothermal energy in the fact that it isn't found everywhere in the U.S. Only states that have a plentiful water sources can harness hydroelectric energy. Luckily, West Virginia has a few sources that yield flowing water, which can be harnessed into hydroelectric energy. Cheat Lake and Summersville Lake are two main sources of hydroelectric energy in WV.

Green energy in America differs between states. Where one source may be more plentiful in one place, it might be scarce in another. West Virginia is special because it is home to nearly every aspect of green energy. Solar, wind and hydroelectric energy are important to WV residents, making it one of the greenest states when it comes to energy.
